COMPTE SPAIN's 'Happy Ending' at 080 Barcelona Fashion

In this special RED-EYE coverage of 080 Barcelona Fashion, we bring you exclusive interviews with distinguished designers, while our photographer, Rosario Rex Di Salvo, ventures backstage to capture the essence of models and looks. Additionally, we've employed AI co-creation to produce a series of images that offer an oniric interpretation of the event, creating a unique visual experience. Enjoy!

Welcome to our exclusive interview with Santi Mozas, the visionary founder and designer behind COMPTE SPAIN, conducted during the vibrant 080 Barcelona Fashion. Born in Valencia in 1994, Santi’s journey through the world of fashion is as unique as the garments he creates. After studying Advertising and Marketing, he honed his craft at the Instituto Europeo di Design, specializing in communication and fashion design. With years of self-taught experience in fashion design, pattern making, and tailoring, Santi has launched COMPTE SPAIN as his most personal and mature venture yet.

COMPTE SPAIN stands as a testament to storytelling through fashion, crafting collections that delve deep into the imagery and nuances of narratives. The brand’s approach is distinctive—stories are revisited, decontextualized, and discussed from fresh, often unexpected angles. This methodology allows the brand to create fashion that speaks on multiple levels, resonating with a diverse audience while challenging conventional storytelling in fashion.

Ethical craftsmanship is at the heart of COMPTE SPAIN’s philosophy. Each piece is handcrafted in Spain, embodying the brand's commitment to slow fashion and sustainability. By insisting on local production and respecting the meticulous design and creation processes, COMPTE SPAIN not only supports regional artisans but also ensures the high quality and unique character of each garment. The brand’s practice of producing on a drop-by-drop basis exemplifies its dedication to reducing environmental impact and avoiding overproduction, thereby promoting a more responsible and conscious fashion industry.

For its Fall Winter 2024 collection, titled “Happy Ending,” COMPTE SPAIN ventures into the emotional and often complex conclusions of the fairy tales and narratives that have shaped our understanding of storytelling from a young age. This collection reimagines these endings, exploring the dualities and raw realities that they can represent—acknowledging that not all endings are unequivocally joyful, but can also be profound, touching, and real. Through "Happy Ending," COMPTE SPAIN invites us to redefine what satisfaction and resolution can look like, capturing the climax of a story in a way that is both thought-provoking and intensely personal.

Join us as we delve into Santi Mozas’s creative process, the innovative ethos of COMPTE SPAIN, and the compelling narrative behind the “Happy Ending” Fall Winter 2024 collection. Discover how this unique brand weaves ethical practices with daring storytelling, offering more than just garments but a powerful commentary on life’s complex tales.

Tell us about yourself and what inspired Compte Spain and how you think it  will influence the future of fashion and innovation?

COMPTE SPAIN is a fashion brand based in Spain which specialises in prêt-à couture. The brand mainly takes inspiration of tales and stories from the popular  folklore. The brand uses all the imaginary from this oral and written literature to  produce collections and made to measure garments. Referencing tales not only for  the beautiful and sweet points of view but also taking the dark side that many of  them hide.

We have been in the industry for a very short time, this is our third collection, the  second that we presented at 080 Barcelona, but we hope to be able to give our point  of view in the industry, both national and international, contributing technique, value  to our garments, valuing the craftsmanship in our in our collections and value in  fashion savoir-faire.

Can you explain the innovative idea behind your latest collection and how it  combines fashion and technology to set new trends?

We always try to bring innovative ideas to our collections, to advance as we grow,  but really all the techniques we use are quite artisanal. It is true that this year is the  second time that we incorporate heat-sealed glass transfers, created by computer,  thus managing to create a much more technical texture to our pieces and giving an  extra quality look to their finishes.

Where do you find your groundbreaking ideas, and how do they help you mix  traditional fashion with futuristic innovation?

I think that, like most of us, we try to explore our creative level in a very personal way  but it is true that the Internet is a great help and all the advances based on the  creation of collections that we can find on the networks

Describe your brand in three words that capture its essence

    Craftsmanship, volume and duality

What advice do you have for aspiring fashion designers who want to bring  innovation to the industry? How can they blend fashion and technology  effectively to create wearable designs for the future?

I think that when you aspire to work in this industry, what you have to have is the  desire to contribute new things, and not be afraid to play, dare to try to be wrong and  not be afraid of failure.

What is the founding story of this brand, and how does it seek to distinguish  itself in the crowded Spanish fashion market?

We seek to offer a much more contemporary and international vision to the Spanish  fashion industry. We like to think big and offer a high quality product, but respecting  ethical and sustainable fashion, in addition to supporting local Spanish trade and  giving a very close and exclusive value to all our garments.
