Unity in Style: Dhruv Kapoor FW24 Glam Utopia

Dhruv Kapoor consistently embodies the zeitgeist, merging urban luxe charm with current cultural discourse. His AW 24-25 collection envisions a utopian world where opposing universes unite, triumphing over the chaos of power and greed. Kapoor's metaphorical garments symbolize unity and harmony, promoting the mantra "Better Together." Like a sports championship, devoid of divisions, the collection captures the moment when the sky seamlessly melds with the sea at sunset—a perfect line blurring the boundary between two realities.

What inspired your new collection?

In response to the global backdrop of war and politics, I aimed to approach these themes in my unique way—fostering unity without direct political statements. The key jersey of the season, "1W One World," symbolizes unity beyond gender, borders, or backgrounds. It's about bringing people together on a human level. The collection collaborates with Nike, embodying a worldwide sports spirit. From unique prints in suiting to abundant embroidery, the recurring unicorn motif represents a balance between masculine and feminine energies, reflecting the overarching theme of energy and spirituality in my collections.

What is your first memory related to MFW?

As a student at Marangoni, Milan Fashion Week was an aspirational date on my calendar. Attending shows of major brands was initially exciting, but the true fulfillment came when I started showcasing my craft. It's a dream realized, a platform to blend craftsmanship from my home country with Milan's tailoring and minimalistic aesthetic.

What emotions does Milan Fashion Week evoke in you as a designer?

Milan feels like home; I studied here and now return after years. It's a mix of emotions—living the dream I once envisioned during my studies. The profound sense of accomplishment and fulfillment sends shivers down my spine; it's truly an elevated feeling.

What would you consider an indispensable fashion item for the upcoming season?

Undoubtedly, the jersey! For those seeking extravagance, the embroidered version adds a touch of opulence.

Can you share three keywords that encapsulate the essence of your new collection?

Revalue, Revisit, and Authenticity. Revalue signifies utilizing surplus fabrics to minimize waste and give them new life. Revisit encourages viewing things differently upon multiple encounters, adding excitement. Authenticity, the core essence, emphasizes being true to oneself without pretense.
