DOLCE XOXO: 12 HOURS OF ART, MUSIC AND INTERNET CULTURE IN MILAN

On September 12, Dolce XOXO takes over Milan for 12 hours of art, music, remix culture and people who grew up online. Powered by Nike SNKRS and inspired by Nike’s Air Max Dolce, the day moves from group exhibition to afterparty, bringing artists, DJs and communities together under one roof in Milan. Remember when the internet felt like a place we were making up together?

We posted, copied, pasted, downloaded, screenshotted and saved-as. We collected images, customised profiles, swapped references, followed rabbit holes and found people who loved the same very specific things we did. Every click could lead somewhere unexpected, and everything we found could become material for something new.

The internet was a giant remix and so were we.

Over time, all that sharing, collecting and reinterpreting became its own collective language. Images stood in for feelings. A few words or symbols could signal an entire world. References travelled from screen to screen, gathering new meanings, new contexts and inside jokes along the way. Communities formed around shared tastes, obsessions and ways of seeing.

Dolce XOXO, happening on September 12 in Via Sammartini 72, Milan, brings that energy IRL.

Taking inspiration from Nike’s Air Max Dolce, a future-forward silhouette first introduced in 2002 and recontextualized for today, Dolce XOXO unfolds as a 12-hour post-disciplinary marathon across art, sound and fashion. It brings together a generation shaped by the optimism and creative freedom of the early internet, remix culture and the endless circulation of images and asks what happens when all those references, friendships, ideas and shared codes come together in the same physical space.

At its centre is a simple question: how did growing up together online change the way we feel, create and connect?

From 3PM to 9PM, Dolce XOXO becomes a group exhibition bringing together emerging and established artists and creative practices connected by a shared language, the one shaped by the internet, remix culture and the pleasure of exchanging references.

Mika Ben Amar, Tudor Ciurescu, Common Index, Due000 Contemporary Archive, Hollywood Superstar Review, Emir Karyo, Luna Mahoux, Forniture Pallotta, Rat Section, Sara Sadik and Brennan Wojtyla come together across disciplines, generations and geographies.

Their practices move with the logic of the network, where images are collected and transformed, references bounce between people and places, archives keep growing, and one idea can quickly become the starting point for another. The internet here is a creative playground, a shared space for making, remixing and connecting.

The rhythm will feel familiar: Screenshot. Save as. Share. Crop. Remix. Repeat.

An image moves into a new context and takes on another meaning. A reference sparks another reference. Something digital becomes physical. A tiny symbol becomes an inside joke. A shared image becomes a shared feeling. Culture grows through this constant exchange, playful, collaborative and always in motion.

For a generation raised within this flow, images and text became ways of finding each other within it. A JPEG, a phrase, an avatar, an emoji or a perfectly chosen image could say everything and instantly create a sense of recognition.

Dolce XOXO celebrates that collective language: how we borrow, remix, share, create, connect and what happens when the community behind it all comes together IRL.

THEN IT GETS DARK

At 11PM, the exhibition changes state.

The images remain, but the experience moves from looking to inhabiting. The space becomes a club; the audience becomes part of the environment; and the digital sensibility explored throughout the afternoon is translated into sound, bodies, movement and collective euphoria.

Hosted by Spiritual Sauna, the Dolce XOXO afterparty brings together international and local DJs and performers for a sonic experience somewhere between the physical intensity of the club and the hyperconnected intimacy of being online.

JAO b2b BPTSM, RENOITERRIBLE, RAT SECTION (DJ) and EUROPA take over the night until 3AM.

It completes the circuit at the heart of Dolce XOXO.

The exhibition looks at a generation that learned to experience itself through images, texts and digital fragments. The party brings those identities into the same physical space.

From URL to IRL. From screen to dance floor.
