Prada SS23 > Backstage
Designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, Prada Spring/Summer 2023 collection offers acts of realities - reflections, refractions, observations.
Elegant, yet restrained and therefore extremely sophisticated, aligned with the darkness of times.
Models emerged from a low-lit runway, the body posture almost contracted in a frontal walk, shoulders first, impulsive, impactful.
Eyelashes curved downward to safeguard glimpses of dreams and memories of beauty.
Prada SS23 Touch of Crude is a collection that finds a quiet balance between looking inward and outward from different perspectives, street rawness and intimate domestic fragility, where day and evening clothes cross-pollinate to subvert space and time gravity.
Polarities are explored between minimalism and decoration, occasion and everyday - as in life, in reality, unanticipated dichotomies are observed, explored, embraced.
Here below a framed viewpoint of Danish film director Nicolas Winding Refn in conversation with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons on the experience around the collection Touch of Crude.
The creative exchange unfolded into an immersive set installation and a series of short films by NWR, exploring domestic voyeurism, the lives of women and the scope of fluid modern femininity - a subject matter that has always fascinated Prada.
These films were presented physically to the audience within the installation at the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada, creating the opportunity to look out, to more realities.
