The Future of Fashion: How SMART DPP and Digital Product Passports are Changing the Game

At RED-EYE, we are thrilled to share the latest news shaping the future of fashion. Here’s everything you need to know about the groundbreaking developments in fashion and blockchain technology, bringing transparency, sustainability, and innovation together.

Launched during Milan Fashion Week at the Digital Couture Summit 2024, SMART DPP introduces a revolutionary one-click solution for digital product passports, tailored specifically for fashion brands. This multi-chain Digital Product Passport (DPP) SaaS, now integrated with Polygon PoS, is set to change the game for the fashion industry, all thanks to Kavana Lab, which incubated within the Polygon ecosystem, empowers brands to seamlessly publish and manage crypto-based products, revolutionizing fashion and luxury industries.

Alexandra Maslova, Founder and CEO of SMART DPP, made the official announcement during Milan Fashion Week SS’25, marking a pivotal moment in the intersection of fashion and blockchain technology within the Polygon ecosystem, with the aim to enhance transparency and sustainability in the fashion industry.

SMART DPP offers a simple, one-click solution for brands to implement digital product passports (DPPs) with ease. These DPPs seamlessly integrate with any ERP system, requiring no technical expertise to set up. Whether through NFC tags, QR codes, or engagement pages, brands can utilize DPPs with or without blockchain support. The technology also offers multi-chain options for increased flexibility.

In addition to enhancing transparency, SMART DPP provides a significant boost to sales, offering up to a 70% increase through an integrated loyalty program while improving conversion rates and reducing product returns. Initially launched under the SEAMM brand at the NFC Lisbon Fashion Stage in May 2024, the SMART DPP vision has expanded, embracing a multi-chain approach to become the first public multi-chain DPP provider in the fashion space.

As of September 2024, SMART DPP operates on Solana, Polygon, and is soon expanding to Ethereum, ensuring a versatile and future-proof solution for the fashion industry.

Guiding and assisting in the deployment of this innovative solution is Kavana Lab, a company incubated within the Polygon ecosystem. Kavana Lab focuses on providing cutting-edge blockchain solutions across industries like fashion, music, sports, and video entertainment. With Polygon Labs, known for its pioneering work in scaling protocols and blockchain adoption for iconic brands like Nike, D&G, and Gucci, SMART DPP is perfectly positioned to scale the use of digital product passports across the fashion world.

This strategic collaboration also supports SMART DPP’s commitment to addressing climate change through blockchain technology. By leveraging Polygon’s core blockchain solutions, SMART DPP seeks to enhance transparency and efficiency within the industry, setting the stage for a new era of sustainable fashion.

SMART DPP’s integration with Polygon PoS positions the company at the forefront of compliance with the European Digital Product Passport Regulation, set to launch in 2027 as part of the European Green Deal. This regulation will mandate detailed environmental documentation for products, including textiles and footwear. With widespread adoption expected by 2026, SMART DPP is ahead of the curve, offering brands the tools they need to stay compliant while enhancing their sustainability credentials.

At the Digital Couture Summit 2024, hosted during Milan Fashion Week SS’25, Alexandra Maslova, alongside notable industry leaders like Erin Surprenant (Legal Counsel, Lacoste), Mihailo Bjelic (Co-Founder, Polygon Labs), and Felipe Fiallo (Founder, Fiallo), discussed the integration of DPPs on Polygon PoS and the future of fashion-tech convergence.

The exclusive, invite-only luxury event brought together prestigious brands like D&G, Giorgio Armani, Lanvin Group, and Diesel, showcasing how this technology will reshape the way brands interact with both consumers and the broader industry.

Maslova shared her enthusiasm, stating: “This is our extended version of the DPPs solution in collaboration with Polygon Labs. We’ve prepared a demo version of the product that will showcase, in real life, how this tech solution will benefit both brands and consumers.”

Following the Polygon PoS integration, SMART DPP is gearing up for further expansion, with plans to roll out its multi-chain DPP solution on Ethereum by the end of 2024.

SMART DPP is a pioneer company in driving the future of fashion through digital transformation. By integrating advanced technologies into the industry, SMART DPP is paving the way for a transparent, sustainable, and innovative future. Backed by major investors, including Lydian Group, with an initial funding of $1.7 million followed by an additional $2.5 million, SMART DPP is set to lead the fashion world into a new digital era.

With collaborations spanning brands like Calvin Klein, Dior, and Levi’s, and after working on campaigns with global icons like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, the company’s trajectory is nothing short of groundbreaking.

As the fashion industry increasingly looks to technology for solutions to address sustainability, traceability, and consumer engagement, SMART DPP’s integration with blockchain technology provides a crucial answer. By offering real-time insights into product lifecycles and eco-credentials, this solution will help brands comply with evolving regulations and also empower consumers with transparent, reliable information about the products they buy.

This launch is definetely a tech milestone; it represents a significant shift in how fashion operates in the digital age. SMART DPP and its partners like Polygon Labs are showing the world that fashion can be sustainable, cutting-edge, and ethically responsible all at once.

As we move forward, RED-EYE will continue to bring you the latest innovations and insights into how technology is reshaping fashion. Stay tuned for more updates on SMART DPP and other groundbreaking initiatives in the fashion-tech space.
