Manifestation of a Feeling: A Special RED-EYE Editorial Collaboration with Neon

In RED-EYE’s latest editorial captured by Simran Kaur, we explore the charged emotional terrain of the human experience through Manifestation of a Feeling, a boundary-pushing collaboration with interdisciplinary designer and storyteller Neon.

A recent graduate of the Royal College of Art's Fashion Human Wear program, Neon brings a unique perspective shaped by her background in fashion textiles and a visionary approach to wearable design. Her work is rooted in material experimentation, expanding unconventional textures into garments and objects that tell stories beyond aesthetics.

At the core of Neon’s practice is a critical inquiry: how can design and fiction reshape the future of wearables and devices to preserve and elevate human qualities like empathy, mobility, and embodiment? As we move toward an increasingly technological future, she proposes a vision where emotional connection becomes a fundamental part of innovation.

Manifestation of a Feeling unfolds through four distinct characters, each representing a different emotional state: joy, sorrow, anger, and serenity. These emotions are embodied through expressive poses, sculptural silhouettes, and tactile design choices that reflect the depth and complexity of inner experience. Each character becomes a living sculpture, allowing viewers to access their emotional world through subtle visual cues.

Bringing these characters to life are three compelling models: @OPIA___________, @TADI_LA_SAINT, and @THEMBOTTHEO. Each model contributes their unique presence and interpretive depth, enhancing the narrative's exploration of human emotion.

This project is not only a visual exploration of feeling but also a statement about the future of wearable art. Through film, installation, and design, Neon offers a multifaceted narrative that challenges the boundaries between human and machine, presence and performance.
